Description
Overview
The Chambord French Press series by Bodum – as the classic French Press coffee maker initially designed in the fifties – is a true original. And it is still produced with the same painstaking craftsmanship used, back when the series originated. The frame and lid (made of steel) undergo several chrome-plating processes to obtain a durable, shiny surface that can stand up to many years of intense usage.
The only change to the production process since the fifties is evidenced in Bodum’s commitment to the highest standards of environmentally-correct manufacturing, which is particularly critical during the chrome-plating process. The black Chambord polypropylene handle comes in a matte finish, that not only ensures a comfortable grip while serving, but adds to the classic quality of the design.
The French Press system has always been the straight-forward and ultimately the simplest way of brewing the ultimate cup of excellent coffee. Ensure that fresh, coarse-ground beans are used, with water between195 – 205 degrees Fahrenheit (92 – 96 degrees Celsius), to bring out the very best flavor and aroma profiles in all types of coffee.

In 2004 the Bodum Chambord coffee press received the American Culinary Institute’s “Chef’s Best” award, for best French Press coffeemaker.
The American Culinary Institute judges food preparation products such as mixers, waffle makers, and electric teakettles. These products are judged on criteria important to consumers such as ease-of-use, safety, and the quality of the food produced. The institute also judges food preparation products used in restaurants and hotels, including institutional mixers, large-volume coffee machines, and food slicers.

How to use Bodum French Press

STEP 1 (Illustrations 1-3): Place pot on a dry, non-slip surface. Hold handle firmly, and pull plunger straight up (out of pot). For each 4 oz cup, put one (1) rounded Tablespoon of coarse-ground coffee into the pot. Pour hot (NOT boiling) water into the pot. Leave a minimum of 1” space at the top. Stir the brew with a plastic spoon.
Caution: Use ONLY coarse-ground coffee; finer grinds can clog the Bodum filter and create high pressure when pressing coffee. Also, use ONLY a plastic spoon, as metal spoons can damage the beaker.
STEP 2 (Illustrations 4-6): Place the plunger unit atop the pot, and turn the lid to close off the pour spout opening. DO NOT PRESS DOWN. Let the coffee brew for at least four (4) minutes.
Hold the pot handle firmly, with the spout turned away from you, then using just the weight of your hand, apply slight pressure on top of the knob to lower the plunger straight down, into the pot. Lowering the plunger slowly, with minimal pressure produces best results. If the filter clogs or it becomes difficult to push down the plunger, you should remove the plunger from the pot, stir the brew, and then slowly plunge again.
Warning: Using excessive force while plunging can cause scalding liquid to shoot out of the pot.
STEP 3 (Illustrations 6-7): Turn the lid, to open the pour spout, and then pour coffee. Unscrew the filter assembly and clean the plunger after each use. ALL PARTS ARE DISHWASHER SAFE!
STEP 4: ENJOY!
